COAGULATED SILK PUFFERS
THE COAGULATED SILK PUFFERS WERE CREATED UTILIZING SCRAP REMNANTS FROM THE PRODUCTION OF COLLECTION 1, AND SILK THAT ENCASES FRAGMENTED DESIGNS CONCEPTS FROM COLLECTION TWO, AND WERE NATURALLY DYED BY HAND.
THE GOAL FOR THESE PIECES WAS TO CREATE A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM WITH ZERO TEXTILE WASTE. THE SCRAPS FEATURED IN THESE PUFFERS CONTAIN VARIOUS NATURAL MATERIALS SUCH AS LINEN, COTTON AND WOOL.
A TOTAL OF THREE COAGULATED GARMENTS WERE CONSTRUCTED FOR THIS PROJECT, EACH FEATURING A DIFFERENT COLOR-WAY. THE BLUE FEATURES THE FABRIC FRAGMENTS SATURATED IN NATURAL BLUE INDIGO DYE, THE GREY FEATURES THE FABRIC FRAGMENTS SATURATED IN NATURAL BLACK DYE USING LOGWOOD AND TANNINS, AND THE THIRD FEATURES FRAGMENTED TEXT CONTAINING ALL OF THE CONCEPTS AND IDEAS CONCEIVED FOR COLLECTION TWO WRITTEN DOWN/ DRAWN ONTO BY THE DESIGNER.
THE SCRAP PIECES WERE HAND CUT TO SMALLER FRAGMENTS TO FILL THE ORGANIC STONE-LIKE SHAPES SEWN INTO THE SILK. THESE GARMENTS FEATURE 4 FULL LENGTH SLEEVES AND 2 CIRCULAR OPENINGS, ALL CONTRIBUTING A MYRIAD OF VARIATIONS THE WEARER CAN EXPLORE IN THE COAGULATED SILK PUFFER.
